Forming web

The continuous material from which blister cavities are formed.

Also called: forming film; forming foil; bottom web; base web.

Does “forming foil” always mean aluminium?

Forming web, bottom web and base web name the cavity-making component. Film or foil may describe its material, but vocabulary varies. Check the material designation and construction rather than deciding from the word foil alone.

Forming materials can include plain PVC, coated or laminated films, and aluminium-based coldforming laminates. Specify which construction and grade makes the pocket. “Blister foil” without a stated role could mean either the forming material or the lid.

Roll dimensions and cavity-forming capability

Reel acceptance and forming capability answer different questions. Web width and reel diameter concern roll handling; forming area and depth concern the pocket format. A roll that fits is only part of the material-and-format review.

Review the layer construction and thickness together with reel requirements and the cavity drawing. Maximum web width and maximum forming depth may refer to different operating conditions; the offered format needs a compatible combination.
