Cartoning

Placing products or primary packs into cartons as a secondary packaging operation.

Also called: cartoner; secondary packaging.

Does a cartoner make the sealed blister?

Cartoning places products or primary packs into a specified carton and closes that secondary package. A blister machine and cartoner can be integrated into one line without making primary blister sealing and cartoning the same process.

Specify the primary pack presented to the cartoner: the card outline, orientation and number of cards per carton, together with any other required contents. Do not infer a leaflet, stack quantity or completeness check solely from the word cartoner. State which feeding and verification functions the proposed configuration includes.

How do blisters/minute and cartons/minute relate?

They use different units. The number of primary packs required in each carton relates card and carton output. Separate catalogue maxima do not establish that two machines achieve those outputs simultaneously with the selected format.

For a comparison, convert using the stated card quantity, then retain stops, rejects and handoff conditions as separate practical questions. A calculated material balance is a starting point for line sizing, not an accepted-output guarantee.
