Changing a machine or line from one product or pack format to another.
Also called: format change; product changeover; size change.
What does a quoted changeover time include?
A quoted duration may cover only mechanical format exchange, rather than the complete transition to acceptable production. Tooling exchange, dosing-module work, cleaning and material-related checks can have different boundaries. State the start and end events with the time.
State the old and new formats, starting machine condition, cleaning scope, operator count and endpoint. One possible comparison runs from the last accepted old-format unit to the first accepted new-format unit; use it only when the parties agree on that boundary.
A saved recipe can restore settings, but it does not establish that the installed tooling and materials match the next job. Capsule segments, dosing components and blister size parts are physical items. Restoring a setting and exchanging a component remain different actions even under one format name.
Review the transition from feeding to final output, including parts, adjustments and checks. Tool-free exchange can simplify one task while cleaning or other adjustments remain necessary. Compare demonstrations of the same transition and timing boundary.
