Blister punching

Cutting sealed blister material into the required individual pack outline.

Also called: blister cutting; blister die cutting; punching station.

Does blister punching make the product cavity?

In the sealed-blister context, punching separates the required pack outline from the processed web. Pocket formation occurs earlier. Identify the cutting station and its alignment to the blister position rather than treating forming and cutting as the same operation.

Keep the cavity drawing and the finished-card outline separate in a format review. The same pocket count does not by itself describe the card edge, dimensions or layout. Ask which tooling and drawing revision the proposed cutting format implements.

Is die-cutting the same as a tear-off perforation?

No. Outline cutting separates the card; perforation creates a designed tear feature within the layout, such as a line for separating cavities. Specify both when the package needs both operations.

For the downstream interface, state what cut cards must be handed over and how they are presented to stacking or cartoning. A maximum punch rate does not establish accepted cards at the next station. Confirm the finished outline and transfer arrangement for the actual format instead of treating the cutting tool as the whole packaging line.
