Capping

Applying and securing a closure to a filled bottle.

Also called: bottle capper; screw capping; closure application.

Does a capper include cap sorting and inspection?

It depends on the configuration. The core task is securing a closure to a bottle. Cap feeding, orientation, application, screw-closure tightening and inspection are distinguishable functions; inspection and rejection may be optional rather than included with the tightening mechanism.

Counting and capping can be integrated into one machine, but that does not make every function standard on every capper. Confirm which handling, application, inspection and rejection functions the offered configuration includes.

Does a fitted cap prove the bottle has a good inner seal?

No. In a conventional capped-bottle induction arrangement, sealing follows filling and capping. Heating the foil activates a sealing layer against the bottle lip. The closure helps maintain contact; its presence is not evidence that the bond formed correctly.

Keep three questions separate in the line requirement: was the intended quantity filled, was the correct closure applied, and did the selected sealing operation produce the required package result? A missing-cap check cannot answer a count question, and an apparently straight cap does not measure tightening torque or prove inner-seal integrity.
