Bottle back-up

A build-up of bottles at a machine’s discharge when downstream flow cannot clear them as required.

Also called: outfeed back-up; bottle build-up; downstream bottle blockage.

Discharge back-up and planned accumulation

No. Accumulation can provide an intentional buffer. A back-up is an outfeed condition where bottles cannot clear as required, rather than simply a group of bottles visible on the conveyor.

Sensor position matters. A discharge build-up is different from the absence of a receiving bottle at the fill point, even if both can stop filling. Locate the signal before interpreting the recorded condition.

ConditionLocation or purpose
Missing receiving bottleThe intended filling position.
Discharge back-upThe downstream clearing path.
Planned accumulationA defined inter-machine buffer.

Does a back-up sensor identify why downstream flow stopped?

It reports a condition at its sensing point. It does not by itself identify which downstream machine or event caused the build-up. A configured control response is not a complete root-cause diagnosis.

Record the sensor location, bottle condition and line response together. Stop and restart sequences depend on the installed controls.
