Counting individual products using light-based detection as they pass a sensing point.
Also called: infrared counting; IR counting; photoelectric counting.
How optical tablet counting works
Detection uses light, such as an infrared emitter and receiver. The light response is interpreted as products pass through the sensing arrangement; the system is not weighing each item on a balance.
Optical does not by itself mean a camera image. Infrared detection, electrostatic-field sensing and camera inspection are different technologies. Name the installed principle and inspection task rather than treating those labels as synonyms.
Does a scan-rate specification prove accurate bottle counts?
No. A scan specification describes part of signal acquisition. Count interpretation also depends on product presentation and the configured detection arrangement. Closely spaced products and fully overlapping products need separate capability evidence using the intended samples.
Compare the sensor response, interpreted count and independently checked bottle contents. Include product presentation and dust conditions in the comparison.
