Capsule wall thickness

The thickness of the material forming a capsule shell wall, specified for a defined location on the cap or body.

Also called: capsule shell thickness; shell wall thickness; single-wall thickness; double-wall thickness.

Single-wall, double-wall and overlap measurements

Check whether the value describes a single wall, opposite collapsed walls, or a cap/body overlap. These cover different measurement objects. Dividing an opposite-wall total by two gives their average contribution; it does not show that both walls have that thickness or identify the thinnest location.

Are the dome and straight sidewall interchangeable locations?

No. Identify the cap or body and its axial and circumferential location. A shell design can have thicker rounded or bead regions than straight walls. Purposeful regional geometry should not automatically be classified as a manufacturing defect.

Compare the agreed feature and method rather than collecting every thickness number under one heading. A sidewall specification does not establish dome puncture performance, and a thickness value alone does not specify the shell’s mechanical behavior. Keep shell material/condition and any functional test as separate evidence.
